Matt Tilbury is a master printer and designer renowned for his dedication to the traditional art of letterpress printing, a craft that has remained largely unchanged for over 500 years. Operating from his studio in Sydney, located above the scenic cliffs of Bondi, Matt harnesses an extensive collection of wood and metal fonts to craft exquisite typographic art. Each piece he creates uniquely showcases the charming imperfections of the antique type and the powerful process that marks the origins of print. Matt began his career as an apprentice compositor in Adelaide, South Australia. This foundational experience led him into the advertising industry, where he worked as a producer in major cities such as Sydney, New York, and London. His career included tenures at prestigious agencies like Saatchi and Saatchi, M&C Saatchi, and WCRS. In 1994, he founded The Tilbury Press, where he continues to pursue his passion for letterpress printing.
